Maxis uses the Controlled Recline System: six springs engage progressively as you lean back, so support stays steady across the full recline range with no sudden drop. There are 5 preset positions: 105°/115°/125°/135°/160°. If the recline feels unstable, it's usually because the tension dial, which ships at a fairly firm factory setting, isn't matched to your body weight yet. Loosen or tighten it as needed.
